Site Demographics:
The Front Page of AirdrieOnLine.com receives over 5,000 unique visitors every month (i.e. over 5,000 different computers).
While they are browsing around, our visitors click, tap,
and turn pages over 500,000 times each month, which adds up to a total of over 6 million hits per year.
The Shop Airdrie Business Directory serves the people of Airdrie and the surrounding communities of Balzac, Symons Valley, Country Hills (Calgary),
Madden, Crossfield, Irricana, Beiseker, Carstairs, Didsbury, and every farm and acreage in-between.
Based on our statistics program, we estimate that 83% of our visitors live and/or work in the vicinity of Airdrie, Alberta.
Due to current economic migration patterns, many people visit our site from other parts of Canada. These people are often relocating to the
Calgary area and are considering Airdrie as a place to live. These visitors account for about 15% of our traffic. The remaining 2% are looking for
Airdrie in Scotland, and so we get a few visits every month from our Scottish namesake.
What is the difference between visitors and hits?
Hit counters are simple devices that keep track of every click, every page turn, every tap of the mouse. A visitor counter, on the other hand,
is a highly specialized statistics program.
When you visit our website(s), your IP Address is recorded and you are counted as a visitor. If you return
to the site later in the same month, the statistics program will recognize your computer, and although your movements will be recorded as hits, you will not be
counted again as a visitor, until the next month, when the program resets to zero.
